105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 shows every weekend. This Sunday morning from 8 to noon Casey Kasem features the top songs from February 27th, 1988, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Belinda Carlisle with “I Get Weak”.
The Southern California girl was the co-founder and lead vocalist of the Go-Go’s who burst onto the music scene with their #1 album “Beauty & the Beat” in 1981. The band broke up in 1985 and she went solo, her first hit “Mad About You” was a #3 hit in 1986.
Her second album “Heaven on Earth” was her most successful delivering the #1 smash “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” and “Circle in the Sand”. “I Get Weak” was the second single from the album and it was written by Diane Warren with Stevie Nicks in mind, but Belinda cut the song and it went all the to #2 on the charts.
I found a performance of Belinda Carlisle doing “I Get Weak” on Wogan, a British show in 1988. It’s today’s Forgotten 45!
