As we prepare for the first big winter storm of 2024, it’s only right that we celebrate the 69th birthday of Canadian Mike Reno of the band Loverboy with today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, from 1981 it’s “The Kid is Hot Tonite”.
The song appears on Loverboy’s self-titled debut album in the Fall of 1980, the album was certified platinum in both the U.S. and Canada and delivered their first big hit “Turn Me Loose”. And while “Kid” technically didn’t make the top 40, it was certainly a familiar song in the Midwest in the early 80’s.
