105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 countdowns every weekend! This Sunday morning at 8, we’ll play part 2 of the Top 100 Songs of 1983, and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, from Lionel Richie it’s “Truly”.
The song was the very first solo hit for Lionel, who of course broke away from the Commodores on the strength of his ballads like “Sail On”, “Still”, and “Three Times a Lady”. “Truly” was released in the fall of ’82 and it spent two weeks at #1. Lionel also earned a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal.
