Growing up I absolutely loved SCTV, so when as I was looking at this Saturday’s American Top 40 show from the 70’s, from November 4th, 1978, this song stood out as one I remember from that show, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from Gino Vanelli with “I Just Wanna Stop”.
The Canadian singer hit the top ten twice in the US, in 1981 with “Living Inside Myself” a #6 song, and his first top 5 smash “I Just Wanna Stop”. But anytime I hear the song, I remember a classic SCTV sketch starring Eugene Levy as Gino performing the song, and every time he spins around, he gets hairier and hairier. Cracked me up then and now!
