For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to this week in 1988 for the 8th of his top ten hits, it’s Steve Winwood with “Don’t You Know What the Night Can Do”.
The song appears on Steve’s “Roll With It” album and the title track was the first single that went to #1 but at the same time, Steve had given Michelob approval to use the song “Don’t You Know What the Night Can Do” and they used it in commercials for the beer. Critics claimed that Winwood was “selling out”, and it appeared that he had written the song for Michelob, but he claims that’s not the case.
