It was on this date in 1988 that U2’s “Rattle & Hum” album was released, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back 35 years for U2 with “Angel Of Harlem”.

The follow-up to their 25 million selling album “The Joshua Tree”, “Rattle & Hum” was a hybrid live/studio album that incorporated blues, folk, and gospel to their sound which includes collaborations with Bob Dylan, B.B. King, and Harlem’s New Voices of Freedom choir.

There was a companion rockumentary film which was released later in October of ’88 that only grossed 8.6 million, but the album went on to sell 14 million copies including the top 5 hit “Desire”.  “Angel of Harlem” was a #14 hit for the band.

On it’s 35th Anniversary, enjoy U2 with “Angel of Harlem” today’s Forgotten 45.
