Happy 74th Birthday to Lindsey Buckingham to celebrate we go back to 1979 for a song that can be heard again on American Top 40 the 70’s this morning at 8am, it’s Fleetwood Mac and “Tusk”.

Of course Lindsey is best known for his work with the band from 1975 to 1987 and again from 1997 to 2018.  The bands personal & creative turmoil is widely known, but there’s no disputing the power of their music.  “Tusk” was written by Lindsey and the song came to life when Mick Fleetwood suggested they use a riff that Buckingham used for sound checks.  They put together a loop of the audio which is used on the song.

Next up, Mick invited the USC Marching Band to perform on the song.  They set up a mobile recording studio at Dodger Stadium and 112 members of the Trojan band were part of a song that went to #8 on the charts and became the title track to their double album.

Check out Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac, and the USC Marching band in the video for “Tusk” today’s Forgotten 45.
