This Sunday on American Top 40 the 80’s we take you back to August 16th, 1986, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Michael McDonald with “Sweet Freedom”.
Michael McDonald has had a legendary musical career starting with the Doobie Brothers, doing backing vocals on huge hits by Steely Dan, Christopher Cross, and Kenny Loggins to name a few. And of course his solo hit “I Keep Forgettin”. “Sweet Freedom” was recorded for the motion picture “Running Scared” starring Billy Crystal & Gregory Hines….remember that one? The movie did ok at the box office and the song became the final top 10 hit for McDonald reaching #7.
