Last Monday we paid tribute to the Class of ’83 on the Forgotten 45 at 3:45, today we salute the Class of ’73 celebrating their 50th reunions this summer with Paul Simon’s summer hit “Kodachrome”.

Back in the day our phones weren’t cameras (I know, we were dinosaurs!), and Paul used the word Kodachrome, which was a now discontinued type of film by Kodak.  The song was originally called “Goin’ Home”, but he thought that sounded too “conventional” so he substituted Kodachrome, and the rest is music history.

The song peaked at #2 in 1973, blocked by “Will It Go Round in Circles” by Billy Preston.  So salute to the Class of ’73 and enjoy this live Paul Simon performance of “Kodachrome” today’s Forgotten 45.
