Singer, songwriter, and actress Laura Branigan was born on July 3rd, 1952, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we’ll feature her song “Self Control”.
The song was the title track to her most successful album, it sold over a million copies and was certified platinum. “Self Control” was a originally a hit for the Italian singer Raf and Laura covered it the same year of 1984, her version went to #1 on the pop and adult contemporary charts and was her third and final top ten hit.
Sadly, Laura passed away in her sleep at the age of 52 in August of 2004 at her lodge in New York from a previously undiagnosed aneurysm. But her music lives on, check out Laura Branigan with “Self Control” today’s Forgotten 45!
