Every Saturday morning 105.7 KOKZ brings you classic American Top 40 countdowns from the 70’s! This Saturday from 8 to noon join Casey Kasem as he features the top songs from the Disco Era! It’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Donna Summer with “MacArthur Park”.
The song was written by the legendary Jimmy Webb and was originally intended for the group The Association, but they rejected it, so it was first recorded by the Irish actor Richard Harris in 1968, the song went to #2.
In September of 1978, the Queen of Disco Donna Summer recorded her #1 version the song that spent 3 weeks at the top of the charts and she became the first female artist to have the simultaneous #1 song and album at the same time in November of ’78.
You’ll hear quite a bit from Donna Summer on our special Disco countdown on Saturday, but for now enjoy a live version of “MacArthur Park” today’s Forgotten 45!
