Today we wish a very happy birthday to the legendary Lionel Richie who is celebrating his 74th trip around the sun! To commemorate this occasion, we go back to 1983 for Lionel’s hit “Running With the Night”, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45.
He’s won just about every award imaginable, and has written and recorded hits with the Commodores and of course during his solo career in which he delivered 13 straight top 10 hits starting with the #1 “Endless Love” with Diana Ross through “Ballerina Girl” in ’87. Of course life’s been good for Lionel as we were reminded during this past weekend’s US Open golf tourney, where they showed his Beverly Hills mansion just off Hole #4!
“Running With the Night” was the second hit from his “Can’t Slow Down” album and the song went to #7 on the charts and features Sheila E in the video.
