Happy Birthday to Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos who is celebrating his 72nd today! So for our Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to 1988 for Cheap Trick’s “Don’t Be Cruel”.
The song was originally a hit for a guy named Elvis Presley, you might have heard of him! In fct the song has been covered by numerous artists including Devo, Neil Diamond, The Judds, and even Daffy Duck! Cheap Trick’s version appeared on their “Lap of Luxury” album and went to #4 the Fall of 1988.
Bun E. aka Brad Carlson was born in Rockford, Illinois and had a falling out with the other members of the group in 2013, but since then they’ve been good, in fact he joined the rest of the group for their induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
Happy Birthday Bun E. Carlos, here’s Cheap Trick with “Don’t Be Cruel” today’s Forgotten 45!
