Ray Parker Junior is celebrating his 69th birthday today, so for the Monday edition of the Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to his group Raydio for “You Can’t Change That”!
Ray grew up in Detroit and went to the same high school as AT40 legend Casey Kasem. He got his first break in the music business by playing guitar for The Spinners, then went on to play for Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, and even Boz Scaggs.
He formed Raydio in 1977 and hit the charts with “Jack & Jill” and of course he’s best known for his #1 hit “Ghostbusters” from 1984. “You Can’t Change That” was a #9 hit for Raydio in 1979.
Happy Birthday Ray! Check out the video for “You Can’t Change That” today’s Forgotten 45!
