I was 12 years old when WKRP in Cincinnati premiered. I never missed an episode. I still remember watching Turkeys Away when it was first on, I don’t think I ever laughed so hard.
It was brilliant how they left you guessing for the first half of the episode, all you knew is that owner, Mr. Big Guy Carlson and sales guy, Herb Tarlek were planning a major thanksgiving promotion. It was as much a mystery to us as it was to Johnny, Venus, Andy, Les, Bailey and Jennifer. Being in the dark made the big reveal that much funnier.
The hilarity starts with Les Nessman is broadcasting outside the Pinedale Shopping Mall, when he sees the Helicopter above dropping something out the chopper door and…oh, just watch the episode. A stone cold television classic!
