Donna Summer – Mac Arthur Park

American songwriter, Jimmy Webb, known for hits like “Galveston”, “Witchita Lineman”, “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” and others, wrote this song that became a big hit for actor Richard Harris in 1968. He took it to #2 on the Hot 100!

Donna Summer covered, “Mac Arthur Park” and made it more disco and in 1978, that was a smart move.

1978 was the biggest year for disco as almost every song on the Top 40 was a danceable tune with dance beats and orchestration. Her version was all over the dance charts, the discos and the Hot 100! It topped the Hot 100 that year.

Hear it again this Saturday Morning on AT40 – The 70s!
