The Call – Let The Day Begin

The Call was formed in California in 1980, beginning with a couple guys from Oklahoma.

Their best known song was the title track of their 1989 album, ‘Let The Day Begin’. That title track became a staple in rock radio, Top 40 and MTV for a short time.

The anthemic “Let The Day Begin” has a memorable guitar riff and song structure that is uplifting and powerful. Praising the working class and each day they get up, go to work, work hard, come home and do it all again the next day, honors those who have their backs to the grindstone.

Michael Been, lead singer, guitar and songwriter was also a devout Christian, adding light religious messages in his songs. He  honors the “preachers of the sacred words.”

It peaked at #51 on the Hot 100, but topped the Mainstream Rock chart!
