Here’s a great idea for a Fogotten 45 from Martha in Oelwein!

ZZ Top’s 1983 release, ‘Eliminator’ set them on a path to enormous success due to the slight change in the band’s sound and the invent of MTV.

Thanks to MTV, the videos for the 4 singles that were released helped the radio airplay of the songs, as it did for most of the other bands and artists of the era.

The third song released as a single was the band’s ode to pre-made meals from the freezer!

“TV Dinners” was an odd song to come from the band, especially off of ‘Eliminator’, where it just felt out of place. A video was made for the song, also something that was against the grain when it comes to the previous videos they made. Fans and critics alike, were confused by the song and not sure how to react to it. Was it supposed to be a hit? A novelty? many said that the retro sci-fi video of an alien or monster coming out of the TV dinner as it was cooked in a microwave during a lightning storm, made it better than the song, itself.

Either way, it peaked at #38 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart in 1983.
