Harry Nilsson wrote and recorded “Coconut” in the Calypso style and sings three different characters to tell the story. A one-chord, syncopated song that did very well on the charts in 1972! It was released on his most successful album. ‘Nilsson Schmilsson” and hit the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for 14 weeks, eventually peaking at #8!
