Nigel Olsson – A Little Bit Of Soap

Originally written in 1961 by Bert Berns (who also worte “Twist and Shout”, “Piece of My Heart”, “Here Comes the Night”, “Hang on Sloopy”, and “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” among others), it was recorded by bluesy soul goup, The Jarnels, known for their doo-wop style. Their version went to #12 in 1961.
In 1979, Nigel Olsson, known for his work on many Elton John songs as a drummer, recorded a version of it that made it’s way onto the Hot 100 and peaked at #34! it was released on Bang Records, the label Berns started in 1965.
