Richard Marx – Don’t Mean Nothing

Richard Marx became the first male artist to reach the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart with four singles from a debut album in 1987.

His first peaked at #3 and set him up for two more follow-up singles to make him a household name, virtually overnight. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Rock Vocal Performance – Solo” for “Don’t Mean Nothing”.

Marx, a fan of the Eagles, was excited to have Joe Walsh play guitar on the song as his manager knew him. He then asked two other Eagles, Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit to sing back up on the track!

“Don’t Mean Nothing” was played all over MTV and radio and raced up the charts. It’s great song with a great hook and killer guitar riffs that solidify it into your memory. While Marx has PLENTY of great songs and lots of hits, this one is still my favorite!

Hear it again this Sunday on AT40 – The 80s!
