Here’s a suggested F45 from Justin in Cedar Rapids! And it just happens to be my favorite Rick Springfield song!

Rick Springfield – Human Touch

In 1983, Rick Springfield was one of the hottest stars of TV, MTV, Pop music and soon to be a movie star (Hard To Hold is not a bad movie). I remember seeing this song’s world premiere on MTV.

That’s probably the reason why “Human Touch” from his ‘Living In Oz’ album, is still my favorite song of his catalog.

In the video, Futureistic Rick is in deep hibernation on a space ship when he is “reanimated” to return to his duties as captain of the ship by future animal/human hybrids who then run away. He’s talking about the future and it’s technology taking away from good, old fashioned human connections. The year he is awakend? 2016 A.D. – now 5 years in the past. He then reanimates the ship’s crew of dancers (?) by using the hight of technology in 2016 – the Commodore Vic=20!

He was ahead of his time in ’83 as digital dating sites had yet to be invented!

The song is his biggest hit in the UK, peaking at #23 when “Jessie’s Girl” failed to hit the Top 40 there, even when it became a worldwide hit elsewhere.

In the U.S., the song peaked at #18 on the Hot 100.
