We remember the life and talent of ZZ Top’s bass-man and vocalist, Dusty Hill.

ZZ Top – I Thank You

Used by permission from Ken Settle

This is a cover od the old Sam & Dave hit that the late Dusty Hill sang on. I chose this as, to me, it’s like Dusty is thanking you for all the love and support over the many years he was with us. It made it to #9 on the Hot 100!

What many may not realize is that it was Dusty’s voice on some of the band’s biggest hits, such as “Tush”, “I Heard It On The X”,  and others!

Dusty Hill passed away, comfortably, in his sleep, according to his bandmates and family. The band will carry on, at least through the rest of the current tour with longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis. Billy Gibbons says,

“Dusty emphatically grabbed my arm and said, ‘Give Elwood the bottom end, and take it to the Top.’ He meant it, amigo. He really did.”

Dusty’s last show was in Manchester, 2 weeks ago at the Delaware County Fair in Iowa. ZZ Top is expected to be here and dedicating the show in Cedar Rapids, September 15th, to Dusty.
