This Sunday morning at 8 105.7 KOKZ brings you American Top 40 the 80’s as Casey Kasem counts down the top songs from November 7th, 1981. Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 can be heard on the show, from Chilliwack it’s “My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)”!
I’m a huge SCTV fan and Netflix released a documentary about the show which is outstanding! They tell the stories of John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas and more. One of the hilarious skits on the show was a band called The Recess Monkeys (Levy, Candy, and Rick Moranis) performing “My Girl (Gone Gone Gone)”. It’s so bad it’s good! Of course SCTV originated from Canada and so did Chilliwack and in the Fall of ’81 they released what would become their biggest hit as “My Girl” went to #3 in their home country and #22 here in the United States.
You can check out both the Recess Monkeys AND Chiliwack with “My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)” it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
