A song written by fellow Who bandmate, Pete Townshend, they originally planned to perform it at Live-Aid but there wasn’t enough time to rehearse it. Instead, it was given to Roger Daltry to record for his 1985 solo album, ‘Under A Raging Moon’.

The song is about the famine in Africa so, of course, it was best for Live-Aid. Either way, it was a song with a timely message that fit, and MTV played the heck out of the video.

“After The Fire” made the Hot 100, thanks to the subject matter and MTV airplay, but peaked just outside the Top 40 at #48. Still a great song though with a memorable hook.
