For the Monday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we travel up I-35 to Minneapolis for a tune that was on the charts September 21st, 1985! From Prince & the Revolution it’s “Pop Life”.
Coming off the massive success of “Purple Rain”, Prince released 7th studio album in April of ’85 called “Around the World in a Day” which found Prince playing around with psychedelic styles and different sound textures. The record company released the album with minimal publicity, but hey, it was Prince, so it found an audience. The album was certified double platinum and featured the top ten hits “Raspberry Beret” and “Pop Life” a song that went to #7 on the charts.
The song didn’t have an official video until November of last year when they released an animated version of “Pop Life”. It’s Prince & the Revolution with today’s Forgotten 45!
