This Sunday morning from 8 to noon, Casey Kasem features the top songs from August 21st, 1982! Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the great songs you’ll hear on the show, from Genesis it’s “Paper Late”.
In the 80’s the trio of Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks hit the top 40 11 times and in 1982 as a follow-up project to their album “Abacab”, Genesis released “Paper Late”. With some help from the Earth, Wind, and Fire horn section, the song reached #2 on the rock charts and #32 on the Hot 100. The title of the song came from the lyric of a 1973 Genesis tune “Dancing With the Moonlit Knight” which featured the line “paper late, cried a voice in the crowd”.
