For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we dust off the charts from August 6th, 1977 for a tune from the Brothers Johnson with “Strawberry Letter 23”.
Brothers George “Lightnin’ Licks” and Louis E. “Thunder Thumbs” Johnson toured in the 70’s with acts like Bobby Womack and Billy Preston. In 1976 they hooked up with super producer Quincy Jones who invited them to tour Japan. The brothers hit the top ten with three different songs “I’ll Be Good to You”, “Stomp”, and with “Strawberry Letter 23” a song that went to #5 on the charts.
