For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to this date in 1984 for Eddy Grant with “Romancing the Stone”.
The song was recorded for the movie of the same name starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner released in March of ’84. The film did very well earning over $115 million bucks and it went on to deliver a sequel in 1985 called “A View From the Nile”.
Eddy Grant was best known for his #2 hit “Electric Avenue” in 1983 and “Romancing the Stone” appears on his album “Going For Broke”. While intended for the movie, it ends up being used only briefly in the movie’s closing credits. Nonetheless, Eddy had his 2nd and final American hit as the song went to #26 on the charts.
