Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from a one-hit wonder in 1982. From Haircut 100 it’s “Love Plus One”!
Over the weekend I was mindlessly scrolling on my phone when I saw a review of a new album by the group. Which was interesting since their only chart hit in the U.S. was back in ’82. The English group was formed in 1980 led by Nick Heyward and they released their debut album “Pelican West” which featured 4 top 10 songs in the U.K. including “Love Plus One”. That tune was released in January of ’82 and only went to #37 on the charts, but is considered one of the best one hit wonders of the 80’s.
Their new album “Boxing the Compass”, their first in over 40 years was released a couple of weeks ago and it sounds pretty good! They’ll be playing some shows with Squeeze and Adam Ant in Florida in August. In the meantime check out Haircut 100 with “Love Plus One” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
