If you are a listener to the Waters Wake-Up Call you’ll hear Mike saying that he went to kindergarten with just about every singer or band.  Spoiler alert:  He’s joking (I think)! But today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from a family group that actually went to high school with Mr. Waters, from the  Twin Cities it’s The Jets with “Crush On You”.

The Wolfgramm family from suburban Minnesota originally performed as Quasar, and Mike remembers seeing them perform at school assemblies.  The changed the name of the band to “The Jets” inspired by Elton John’s “Bennie & the Jets”.  “Crush On You” was the group’s first big hit released in March of ’86, the song went to #3 becoming their biggest chart hit along with “You Got It All” later that year.

The Jets are so Minnesota, they performed the National Anthem at game 7 of the World Series, a game the Twins went on to win.  Hear the song again Saturday night on Absolutely 80’s and check out The Jets with “Crush On You” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
