Welcome to June! The Monday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was on the charts June 1st, 1985 from one of the biggest movies of the Summer of ’85 it’s Cyndi Lauper with “The Goonies R Good Enough”.
The cult classic movie “The Goonies” was released on June 7th, 1985 and the Steven Spielberg movie was a big hit and remains a favorite over 40 years later. The movie follows the boys of Astoria, Oregon, Mikey, Data, Mouth, and Chunk, and of course Sloth! “The Goonies” made over 60 million dollars at the box office.
Meanwhile Steven Spielberg enlisted the help of Cyndi Lauper to find the songs for the soundtrack and her song “The Goonies R Good Enough” was released a month before the movie reaching #10 on the charts. For some reason Cyndi stopped playing the tune live at her shows in 1987, but due to requests from her fans, she put it back into her set list.
