It was on this date in 1983 Tony Montana said “Say hello to my little friend” when the movie Scarface debuted in theaters. And today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was also on the charts on December 9th, 1983, from Culture Club it’s “Church of the Poison Mind”.

Following the success of their debut hits “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” and “Time (Clock of the Heart””, Culture Club released what turned out to be their most successful album in 1983 with “Colour By Numbers”.  “Church of the Poison Mind” was the first single from the album that sold over 10 million copies, and the band was so popular that year their label released “Karma Chameleon” early, so both songs were on the charts on 12/9/83!  “Church” went to #10 on the charts, and “Karma” became their first and only #1 hit.

“Scarface” starring Al Pacino was also a success, making $66 million dollars at the box office and some critics originally hated the film, calling it “an empty, bullying, overblown B-movie”.  But over time, the movie held up and is likely showing up on your TV guide right now.
