105.7 KOKZ is your home for classic American Top 40 shows every weekend! This Sunday morning at 8 Casey Kasem counts down the top songs from December 6th, 1980, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Neil Diamond with “Love on the Rocks”.
The song was recorded for the movie “The Jazz Singer”, a movie that starred Diamond as a singer that was torn between tradition and his dreams of being a singer. The movie didn’t do that well at the box office, but the soundtrack album did, selling over 5 million copies on the strength of Neil’s top ten hits “America”, “Hello Again”, and “Love on the Rocks”, a #2 hit in January of 1981.
On Christmas Day a new movie called “Song Sung Blue” will be released starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as singers in a Neil Diamond tribute band. Early reviews of the film are positive.
In the meantime, enjoy the real thing, it’s Neil Diamond with “Love on the Rocks” today’s Forgotten 45.
