Today is the 42nd anniversary of the ABC movie “The Day After”, the controversial nuclear war movie.  Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was on the charts on November 20th, 1983, from Daryl Hall & John Oates it’s “Say It Isn’t So”.

The movie was watched by more than 100 million people on a Sunday night in ’83 with the movie warning of graphic images and asked families to discuss what they were watching.  There were even 1-800 hotlines set up with counselors.  Weren’t the 80’s fun?!   The scary part is that the film ran a disclaimer before the credits stating that the real outcome of a nuclear war would be much worse than the events on the screen.

On a brighter note, Hall & Oates released their greatest hits package Rock ‘N Soul Part 1 in the Fall of ’83 and released the first of the two new songs for the album.  “Say It Isn’t So” went all the way to #2 on the charts, blocked from #1 by “Say Say Say” by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney.

42 years later, we’re still here!  Check out the video of “Say It Isn’t So” by Hall & Oates.  The Forgotten 45 is sponsored by Honey Creek Furniture in Manchester, Eastern Iowa’s fastest growing La-Z-Boy store.  You’ll find them at honeycreekfurniture.com.
