Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 just so happened to be the #1 song on this date in 1979, from The Commodores it’s “Still”.

The group from Tuskegee, Alabama first hit the top 40 charts in 1974 with their song “Machine Gun”, but it didn’t take long for them to realize that Lionel Richie singing power ballads meant huge hit records.  Classics like “Easy”, “Sail On”, and the #1 “Three Times a Lady” paved the way for “Still”.  Released in the Fall of 1979 the song went to the top of the charts on November 17th of that year.
