Since Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of Summer, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 was named at the #1 Summer song by Rolling Stone magazine a couple of years ago. From Chic it’s “Good Times”!

Released in June of 1979, “Good Times” dominated that summer and rocketed to the top of the charts in just two months.  Written by the band’s Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, the song was inspired by a Kool & the Gang song “Hollywood Swinging”.  It sold over 5 million singles, making it the best selling 45 of all-time for Atlantic Records.

The song continues to live on in many samples in hip-hop songs and the B-side of the song was called “A Warm Summer Night” which makes Chic a perfect choice for today’s Forgotten 45 with “Good Times”.
