Yesterday I mentioned there was a new poll in England asking what were the greatest sing-a-long songs of all-time? So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 it’s a group that had two of the top 5 songs in this poll, ABBA with “Mamma Mia”.
The song was a massive hit around the world hitting #1 in England, Australia, Switzerland, and Germany, but the song only went to #32 in America. Of course the staying power of the song turned “Mamma Mia” into a very successful musical that ran for 14 years on Broadway and turned into a motion picture starring Meryl Streep that was released in 2008.
As far as the top sing-a-long songs, “Sweet Caroline” was #1 followed by ABBA with “Dancing Queen”. “Mamma Mia” was 4th. So go ahead and sing along with ABBA and “Mamma Mia” it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
