Today we wish a Happy Birthday to Anthony Michael Hall, the star of so many 80’s classic movies! He’s celebrating his 57th b-day today and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from one of his hit movies, it’s Oingo Boingo with “Weird Science”.
You knew him as Rusty on the original Vacation movie and as one of the stars of the iconic John Hughes movies in the 80’s like “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club”. Anthony Michael Hall also has the distinction of being the youngest Saturday Night Live cast member, joining when he was only 17 years old!
He was also the star of the 1985 movie “Weird Science” where he and a buddy create a real life woman played by Kelly LeBrock. The movie received mixed reviews, but ended up grossing over 23 million dollars at the box office and becoming another John Hughes hit.
Oingo Boingo was asked to write a song for the film by John Hughes and the band’s Danny Elfman said he wrote the song in the car on his way to the studio where they recorded what became their biggest hit song.
