Happy Birthday to Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats! In celebration of his 66th birthday today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is (She’s) Sexy & 17!
The rockabilly trio of Brian, Lee Rocker, and Slim Jim Phantom formed in 1979 in Long Island, the group was inspired by the 50’s sounds of Sun Records and artists like Carl Perkins and Bill Haley and the Comets. In 1982 the band exploded with their platinum album “Built For Speed” with top ten hits “Stray Cat Strut” and “Rock This Town”.
(She’s) Sexy & 17 was the first single from their ’83 album “Rant N Rave with the Stray Cats and the song became the final top 10 hit for the group reaching #5 on the charts.
Brian now lives in Minneapolis and earlier this year announced he has an autoimmune disease that prevents him from playing guitar.
