Keith Richards mainly wrote “Happy” in the summer of 1971 while in France. He said it took four hours to write, record and finish and was one of the easiest song he’d ever written.

This is also one of the songs with Keith singing lead, rather than Jagger!

Released as a single from the band’s landmark album, ‘Exile On Main St.”, it debuted on the U.S. Hot 100 at #69 and climbed all the way to #22 from July to August, 1972.
