On this date in 1980 Billy Joel’s “52nd Street” was awarded the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, how about a song from that album, “Honesty”.
“52nd Street” was Billy Joel’s 6th album and the follow up to his breakthrough project “The Stranger”. Released in October of 1978, “52nd Street” became his first #1 album and delivered hits like “My Life” and “Big Shot”. “Honesty” was the final single from the album and it became the third top 40 reaching #24 on the charts.
