This Sunday morning on American Top 40 the 80’s, Casey Kasem features the top songs from March 1st, 1980! It’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Toto with “99”.
The only hit from their 1979 album “Hydra” the song was inspired by the 1971 sci-fi movie THX 1138 which was the directorial debut of George Lucas. If you don’t know the film, you aren’t alone, even the band admitted that most of their fans weren’t familiar with it either!
“99” went to #26 on the charts and was a top 20 hit in Canada. Of course Toto really broke through with their Toto IV album in 1982 which went triple platinum. Check out the video to Toto with “99” it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
