105.7 KOKZ welcomes Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms, and the Spin Doctors to McGrath Amphitheatre in Cedar Rapids on July 7th.   So for today’s Forgotten 45, we feature the 2nd hit from Blues Traveler, from 1995 it’s “Hook”.

A band formed in the garage in Princeton, New Jersey in the 80’s with John Popper and Brenden Hill was originally called The Establishment, then The Blues Band, before changing to Blues Traveler, inspired by Ghostbusters Gozer the Traveler.

The band’s 4th album called “four” was their big breakthrough selling over 6 million copies and featuring their signature hit “Run Around” which went top 10 and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Group.

“Hook” is a song that makes fun of catchy pop songs, which is ironic, since it WAS a catchy pop song that became the group’s 2nd top 40 hit reaching #23 on the charts.  The video features Ken Ober and even Paul Shaffer lip-syncing!

The signature harmonica of Blues Traveler with “Hook” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
