Monday’s Forgotten 45: Fleetwood Mac

By Jeff Winfield Jan 6, 2025 | 3:43 PM

Over the weekend we featured the top songs of 1975 and 1985 on American Top 40, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 I thought we’d split the difference.  Today’s choice was on the charts this week in 1980 from Fleetwood Mac it’s “Sara”.

The follow-up to “Rumours” their legendary 1977 LP, Fleetwood Mac released their double album “Tusk” in ’79.  With sales of “only” 4 million copies, the album was considered a failure by the record label.  The title track was a top 10 hit, and “Sara” was the follow-up, a song that went to #7 on the charts in early ’80.

Stevie Nicks wrote the lyrics originally as a poem, but then added chords and melody and the rest is history.  Check out Stevie and Fleetwood Mac with “Sara” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
