Throwback Thursday Forgotten 45: Leo Sayer

By Jeff Winfield Nov 14, 2024 | 3:43 PM

This Sunday on American Top 40 the 80’s we take you back to the top songs from November 22nd, 1980!  This is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from Leo Sayer with “More Than I Can Say”.

I was today years old in finding out this song was a remake!  In 1960 The Crickets recorded the song which became a minor hit in England.  Bobby Vee then did a version of the song that didn’t make the top 40.

In late 1980 Leo Sayer released his album “Living in a Fantasy”. He said he was looking for an “oldie” to include on the project, and he found it in “More Than I Can Say” a song that reached #2 on the charts and stayed there for 5 weeks.

I’ve linked the video to the song from Leo, it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
