105.7 KOKZ wishes a very Happy Birthday to Robert Bell, the “Kool” of Kool & the Gang! In celebration of his 74th birthday, today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from the band with their hit “Joanna”.
Along with his brother Ronald, they were the founding members of the group that settled on the name Kool & the Gang in the late 60’s. They had their first hit in 1973 with “Jungle Boogie” (attention Eiben in the morning!), then reached even biggest success in the late 70’s and 80’s with their #1 hit “Celebration”.
“Joanna” was a #2 song for the band in 1983 and they hit #2 again in ’85 with their song “Cherish”. Take a trip back to 83 with Kool & the Gang with “Joanna” it’s today’s Forgotten 45.
