On this date in 1977, the first episode of The Love Boat aired on ABC-TV, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back this week in ’77 for Little River Band and “Help Is on Its Way”.
The Love Boat aired for 10 years from 1977 to 1987 and compared to today’s streaming era, where a season of shows might run 8 to 10 episodes, we were treated to 250(!!) Love Boat shows with Capt. Stubing, Gopher, Issac the bartender, and never-ending guest appearances by Charo!
The Little River Band’s chart success closely mirrors the Love Boat timeline. Between 1976 and 1983, LRB delivered hits like “Reminiscing”, “Lady”, and “Cool Change”, and “Help Is on Its Way” was the band’s first top 20 hit, reaching #14 on the charts in ’77.
