This Saturday morning at 9 105.7 KOKZ brings you another classic American Top 40 show from the 70’s!  This weekend Casey Kasem plays the top songs from August 27th, 1977, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Stephen Bishop with “On and On”.

The singer-songwriter from California got his first break in the 70’s when a friend gave his demo tape to Art Garfunkel.  He in turn recorded two of Stephen’s songs for an upcoming album and helped him sign his first record deal with ABC Records in 1976.  His debut album featured his first hit “Save It for a Rainy Day” and “On and On” which reached #11 on the charts in 1977.

He hit the top 40 a couple of more times, his final chart hit was “It Might Be You” which appeared on the movie Tootsie.  The song was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.  A few years later in 1985 he also wrote the song “Separate Lives” by Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin, and song was nominated for an Academy Award as well.

Check out Stephen Bishop performing “On and On” on the Midnight Special.  It’s today’s Forgotten 45!
