Today would’ve been Dan Fogelberg’s 73rd birthday, so for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to 1975 for his first ever chart hit, “Part of the Plan”.
Born on August 13th, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois, Dan grew up in a musical family, in fact his song “Leader of the Band” was dedicated to his father who was a band teacher. He went to college at Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and was discovered by Irving Azoff, the legendary music manager, who also managed REO Speedwagon, also from Champaign.
In his career he recorded 11 top 40 hits and it all started with “Part of the Plan” which was a #31 hit in 1975 from his second album “Souvenirs” . Sadly, Dan Fogelberg passed away from cancer at the far too young age of only 56.
Today we remember Dan and his music, check out a live performance of “Part of the Plan” by Dan Fogelberg, it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
